WANNA GET RID OF LICE?

      A common probem among children at school age is having head lice. In fact it is second only to the common cold among communicable deseases affecting school children. Lice prefer to live in clean and oil free hair so that it can travel easily in different locations of your head. What's more disturbing is that a female lice can lay more than 100 eggs in just 10-12 days! The nits or eggs of lice are mostly found at the base of the hair. They cause intense itching and can be irritating and embarassing at times. Though no always, head lice could be due to bad personal hygiene or an unclean living environment and it needs to be tackled immediately.

           Both over-th-counter and prescription medications are available to treat head lice. However, you can help to prevent kids from getting lice or from becoming re-infested with lice by taking the following precautions:-

• Children avoid head-to-head contact at school and also while playing at home with other children.
• Children should not share combs, brushes, hats, ribbions, hair ties or bands, towels, or other personal care items with anyone else, whether they may have lice or not.
• Children should not lie on bedding, pillows, and carpets that have recently been used by someone with lice.
• Every 3 or 4 days, children should examine themselves for head lice and also other members of the household who have had close contact with a person who has lice. Then, treat those who are found to have lice or nits close to the scalp.
